Troll

Overview

Trolls are the Creep's session play character are are akin to mobile seige tanks, very strong, durable, and slow.  Trolls when combined with creep support can devastate inexperienced freep groups or complicate the tactics of veteran groups.  Trolls work best against targets that are in melee range and stay in range, in general, melee NPCs.  As the Troll kills targets, they gain rampage which leads to strong attacks with massive stuns.

As a session player, the Troll can be used for one hour with 5,000 destiny points.  The creeps can have one troll out if they own 3 or more keeps, otherwise they can have two simultaneously.

Tactics

[Vyxe, Elendilmir]

  • A Troll's effectiveness is completely tied to its power.  Without power, a Troll is useless so the creeps must do what they can to disrupt Loremaster power drains and to protect the Troll when it's trying to get out of combat to recharge.  As the Troll, watch your power level and call out that you're going to rest when needed.
  • Attacking just a freep raid in the open, the Troll should wade in immediately and try to disrupt the freeps with a psychological blow.  Cause as much AoE damage as possible to complicate freep healing and do not chase one target around unless it's critical.
    • If there are attackable NPCs nearby and the Troll has time, kill a few quick to build up rampage
  • When striking at freeps inside of a blue keep, decide whether the troll is going to strike at the freeps or npcs
    • The NPCs are more easily dealt with as a troll as they can be massed together easily and AoE'd.  Use a ranged attack to draw the NPCs around a corner to pull the ranged towards you and take them down as fast as possible.  Gain rampage to get ready to strike immediately at the freeps with a Stomp to help disrupt them for your creep allies.
    • If the troll is tasked to take out the freeps, your objective is to drive them back into the next zone of the keep while the creeps take out the NPCs.  Swats are extremely helpful in disruption and herding of the freeps with the occasional Stomp to panic them and make them run.  Minstrels are primary targets if few in number and making them the focus of your attacks will force them back, thereby forcing the rest of the supporting freeps back.
  • Other fun tactics
    • Wade into the freep group and use Swat to launch a couple freeps at a time into the waiting arms of the creeps.  From the entrance of a freep keep with them holding the entrance, hold slightly off on the side behind a wall with Rampage then move in and while walking backwards, spam Swat.
    • Use Swat to launch freeps off of balconies inside of a keep and force them to take a long route back inside
    • If Grams camped, launching freeps into 1 shotters will quickly force them backwards and a reasonable distance away
