The Black Appendage of Sauron is currently open for recruiting and the process followed by the officers is detailed herein.
There are two methods by which recruitment can occur into BAOS. Either an officer can directly recruit based on your actions and reputation in the Ettenmoors, or you may fill out a form below and request sponsorship. Any BAOS member may sponsor a recruit if they are familiar with them. For the next 30 days, the sponsoring member takes responsibility for the recruit and actions taken by the recruit reflect on the sponsoring member.
Those who apply for membership will be assessed against the five attributes listed in our charter
1) Integrity - You are honest and trustworthy in your words and actions
2) Loyal - You are identified as being an asset to the creep side and can be counted on as a creep through all circumstances
3) Excellence - You have been identified as being strong in the role that you choose to play in the Ettenmoors, whether it be a leader, a follower, a targeter, or even cannon fodder. You choose to also aid those around you as a tutor and give advice rather than harsh criticism
4) Self Sufficient - You count on yourself first for all of your needs, you do not require handouts or hand-holding. It is not wrong to ask for help, but only when it's needed.
5) Mature - Outbursts and childish attitudes may occur time to time due to stress, but do not rule you in the game. You look primarily to boost the confidence of your fellow creeps and maintain a positive attitude.
Additionally you must have at least the following maps on your main/highest creep before a sponsorship will take effect
- 1 minute Gramsfoot map
- Crude Isen
- Crude Lug
- Crude Grimwood
- Poor TR
- Poor TA
-----------------------------------------------------
Specifically these bind you to the following rules, the interpretation of the points above will clarify any grey situation.
FIRST AND FOREMOST HAVE FUN!!!!
1.) Do not partake in the use of any exploit: If you are caught or reported to be doing so, that will count as an infraction towards being removed from the Tribe
2.) Play honorably and do not trash talk ANY creep in ventrilo or in chats- if there is an issue keep it to tells and sort it out; if you have to get an officer involved then do so.
3.) When changing between Creep to Freep on the Ettenmoors, leave at least 30 minutes between flipping times. It is discouraged to flip to the winning side- abusers will be charged with an infraction toward the Tribe
4.) Do not spy and pass critical information to the freep side when on your creep or vice versa.
5.) NO begging! Each of you are chosen upon your ability to stand toe-to-toe against a freep and know the moors well enough to call for help if that is the case- help is given when it is possible; asking for help for major things is fine (Goldie/Golly) at appropriate times (i.e. not during massive freep battles) but do not beg for attention and or items.
6) Do not camp Glan Vrang (GV) - definition of camping, hanging just outside of one shot range and waiting for freeps to come out to kill them. It's unsportsman like and the purpose here is that freeps will not come out if they are not given an opportunity to come down the mountain. It's ok for an occasional drive by to check status of front steps, but hanging out around them is unacceptable.
Further definition of GV camping:
BAOS members may not enter the line drawn by the word Coldfells on the Ettenmoors map with the intention to kill freeps while there. They may pass through, scout within it, or finish a pursuit of freeps to it, but MUST withdraw out of it within a reasonable period of time (ie, immediately once the freep is dead). First penalty is a warning, second is a tribe kick. Officers (not forum posters) will be strictly observing this demarcation.
Penalty Structure
For any single infraction: A warning is issued by an officer with an explanation of the infraction
For the same infraction if it is done again, a kick is initiated on that creep (This includes officers- we are all equal in that regard)
If you are a Tribe member and have multiple (meaning 4 times) infractions for different purposes this will have the same effect as the single infraction warning+kick.
Removal due to Time
If you are not registered on the forums (i.e. not a member in game), the removal time period is 21 days of inactivity regardless of if it's an alt.
If you are a member and have not logged on any character within 31 days, all of your characters will be removed from the tribe unless you have a specific reason posted on the forums and you have a date of return- once that date has come and gone (72 hours) your characters will then be removed.
-----------------------------------------------
Moving from Recruit Status to Member status is based on registering on these message boards.
Being a recruit means being subject to removal after 21 days of inactivity. Members have a 31 day inactivity removal cutoff
Officership is attained by elections held at the beginning of every new book, therefore your attitude and leadership within BAOS is important every day.
Upon being approved, please contact a BAOS officer in game for recruitment. <<<< This is important! We may think that another officer got you!
Once complete, please update your forum character list here http://baos.alanlouie.com/user/me/edit/Characters and maintain that list as you add alts to the tribe
Once inducted into the tribe, you are required to maintain work on your maps. A well mapped tribe member gains more infamy and ranks faster because they can map back into the fight and are a much more effective creep. A requirement to maintain membership in the tribe is to continue to update map status on your BAOS Recruitment request at least every 30 days until ALL good maps are achieved. Lack of progress on maps could result in expulsion from the tribe. Obviously this is a PvP environment and we want people to have fun, when there is a high creep and low freep population on the map, we would highly recommend working on your map progress - which is why the map requirement is in place - the faster you can map back into a fight - the more kills you will get.
Also BAOS does not support multi-tribing. If you have a character in BAOS, please do not join another tribe. This is to ensure drama is kept to the least.
