You can add points by looking just under the map and creating either a point or a region.  After clicking one of those, fill in the title at the top with the name of the area/point, then on the upper right select either a point (if it's a POI) or the filled polygon (region).  Use the map controls to find the area of interest, either click once for a point, or start clicking corners for the polygon.  Double click the last corner to complete the polygon.  Hit save.
