Every once in a while I drop by to see what's going on in the world of Lotro, and I see Turbine is still up to its tricks. They really seem to have little regard for their users.
Well, like others, I was grinding like a madman the few days after and didn't end up with anything... oh, yeah, except the 30 gold that put me up to almost 60g and a lot of time looking in the eye sockets of the undead.
To make the players think that they have some part in how the game turns out...
UPDATE - I was given a Guarentee that when you get a second box after opening the first it was guarenteed to have something good by someone who played on beta. Guarantee. That is how it was on beta.
So I spent another 100 TP and Drum roll please
This time 10 pots and 10 hides.

sorry about that. but yeah on beta it was a garuntee that the second box was a rare drop. we found out that A lot of things change from beta to live...so testing is done for what reason?

Although it has been building up for quite a while now, this was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me. And I really couldn't care less about getting a new appearance. It's just the constant getting beat on the head by the new cash-cow LOTRO store for everything in game. There is no reason that a box drop that I hear has a less than 1% drop rate should contain normal everyday quest items like hobbit feet. And then you gotta buy a key to open said box?!?..seriously, WTF Turbine?
And now I see a lot of the traits from class trainers appear to require those stupid sigils, instead of delving stones. Great!....just what we need, more reason to PvE in a PvP zone.
It was bad enough when they made all the damn skills available with Turbine points, I think it was a slap in the face of long time creeps who had to get their skills the old way, now we are supposed to mindlessy kill NPCS for hours on end so we can maybe get one of these sigils to improve a trait? Well enjoy the 4 years of money you got outta me Turbine, because you won't be getting anymore.

While i am extremely POed about the drop rate vs loot and the sheer stupidity of it i will point out one thing.

The traits you speak of can still be obtained using delving stones as they always have been. The sigils, however, allow someone to get them before they reach the required rank. The delving stone versions are still rank-gated.
As I said you are not required to use sigils. If you had checked the listing fully you will find the old version of the traits are still at the race trainer as always.
As far as the traits that were previously unavailable in-game at any rank. I don't see why people are complaining, it isn't anywhere as bad as them being on the store.

Agreed. I'm done farming for chests/keys. If i happen to get one, than i'll consider myself lucky. Other than that; most likely wait until they hit the stores.

Well, I think that if our members find these boxes they should give them to us officers for safe keeping till they find keys, just sayin.

I sense a Ponzi scheme here. You have opened the "Never-ending Box" scam. A new box appears as each is opened....and where can you find keys??? At the store of course.

From opening the first box, on the forum thread here is what the dev said to my posting it there

Of course this is the same Dev that thought 5 trolls and 5 rangers in the PvP zone was a good idea too. It does not surprise me that he would come up with this idea. He comes up with the ideas of doing anything to the PvP zone EXCEPT actually improve PvP.
ps - he said I was unlucky in that I could have gotten 100 seeds from HH. Oh wow, a 100 seeds. Is he kidding or is he just dumb?

be glad you werent farming HH for that box...after 800 seeds and then +10 more...there would be colorful chat from me.

So today, playing in my second day freepside (for a whopping total of about 6hrs during the afternoon EST), a strongbox dropped for me on Ronin (I didn't even realize they dropped for freeps!?!?). I haven't purchased a key yet (I asked what type of goodies freeps might get in Moors OOC...didn't get any responses other than several people asking me for the strongbox)...but I also turned in for the first time ever 25 of those tokens that are given out as quest rewards; got BOTH a tyrant's crest & a chieftain's brooch!!
Needless to say I always thought Turbine favored freeps over creeps, but this is ridiculous!!! I'd wager I spent 100 hours easy farming on creepside in the hopes I'd get a strongbox before I stopped caring...and yet in a mere 6hrs freepside I get the box + 2 of the most coveted items freeps want. Lame Turbine, very lame.
