So.. I buy a refurbished NEC 30" monitor that operates at 2560x1900 native resolution.

I get it today after anxiously awaiting it since last Wednesday...

I hook the thing up and something's wrong, it's all blurry.  I reset it, muck around in settings a ton of times, unplug my other monitor, read up on my ATI card to make sure it can handle this, reinstall graphics drivers/software, the whole 10 yards

3 hours later I realize that the user manual shows that a dual link DVI-D cable was supposed to come with this thing.  The refurbished box came with a single link (only 18 pins vs 24 pins).

So... here I am with a 30" monitor dominating my desk... dark........... and a dual link DVI-D on next day shipping on order. (which basically tripled the price of the cable.. but neither Walmart nor Best Buy carry dual link DVI-Ds)

I used to play on a 64 inch LED tv, found it was TERRIBLE for my posture.

Actually prefer playing on my 24" display.  30" would probably be just as good, just remind yourself how great it will be when it gets there V.

Cable has more pins to it to carry more signal.  Single link cables can only do up to about 1920x1200 resolution.

And I think I need to visit UncleFloyd to see her products in person ;)

Ouch that really sucks.  If it makes you feel any better i'm ordering a new rig tomorrow and because of this stupid HDD shortage i'm paying over double what i intended to pay for a HDD.  Guess we can ./cry about annoying PC things together. =p

On the upside.  Sounds like it will be one beast of a display when you get it going.

So how does the dual link thing work?  Does it mean your GPU has to have dual DVI-D output and it goes into one output on the monitor? Or the other way round or what?
