The revisions let you track differences between multiple versions of a post.
General Notes
- Most times that a freep force attacks DG it is truly massive and/or well-coordinated. In this case, do not defend anything except the Tyrant room. Everything else is trash. Do not go look at the freeps else you'll get stunned and killed by focus fire with a very long walk back. Stay alive at the Tyrant.
- The main reason that DG is defendable is the five minute respawn rate. This is incredibly fast and if the freeps are slow or are pulled back into it, the respawns will cause them many problems.
- Your tactics are built according to the experiance of the freeps. If they have tried DG several times, hide by the Tyrant. If they are new to this, there are several hiding spots (example being behind the wall by Flim) where you can hide all your creeps. If they don't look for you or track, they can pull the Tyrant and you can swarm all over them. Another variation is holding the creep force to the north or south of DG and wait for the pull. It's a bit of a run though so you lose valuable time and the Tyrant could be dead before you get there. Most modern 24 man freep raids can dish out between 4-5k DPS.
- If you are planning on defending DG, it's vitally important to get there before the freeps. Try not to die until the freeps reach the Tyrant's room because it's a long way from Gramsfoot. The only people who should be looking are targetters who are picking up minstrels.
- Classical Tyrant Defense - In the Tyrant's room there are two tents. If you are looking out the door, the left one is good to hide behind initially because it gives good coverage from being shot from the doorway. The right one also gives moderate coverage but can be subject to AoE attacks. It is vitally important (and hence repeated many times) not to die before the Tyrant is pulled. The freeps may do one of three options in the attack.
- Freeps move in and try to clear the left side after distracting the Tyrant and the Chieftains. In this case, everyone shifts to the right tent and hides in the corner tightly. Hang in there until the Tyrant is aggroed then engage when it's not rooted
- Freeps pull the bosses outside of the room. This is the best case scenario for the creeps. Charge and try to pull them into respawns.
- Freeps charge in. The moment the Tyrant moves, engage its target ASAP. If you're being chased, run out of the room into respawned aggro. Warleaders should hold their rezzes until 4-5 creeps are down to maximize efficiency.
